Fennel & feta with pomegranate & sumac: Greedy Diva Happy Snaps #1

Yes, the Greedy Diva cooks! Don't expect me to start posting recipes from my kitchen any time soon. But this was my fennel & feta salad with pomegranate & sumac, courtesy of the Ottolenghi cookbook. It's zingy and fresh and gorgeous looking - and went well with a big, fleshy piece of baked seabass.

If you haven't used the Ottolenghi: The Cookbook before, then I highly recommend it - it's inspiring, and will help you discover the world that is the cluster of Lebanese grocers near Edgeware Road. I recently stocked up my cupboards with all sorts of exotic ingredients from Green Valley (36-37 Upper Berkeley Street).

Pomegranates, lemons & a big, pretty jar
of preserved lemons from Green Valley

This is the first in my new series of random snaps capturing food related moments that make me happy (Greedy Diva Happy Snaps). Awww...

  1. this looks delicious! I really need this cookbook particularly as I have decided to start to cook this year...

  2. That is a superb looking salad - full of zingy, enlivening flavours. I am so with you on the Otto Lenghi front, it's a superb book. And their patented pomegranate seed removal technique is worth the price of the book alone...

  3. Hi Ute - Good luck with the cooking! I love this one.

  4. I adore this salad. My fennel obsession is getting a little out of control. And I love the photos.

  5. The Grubworm - How good is the pomegranate seed removal technique?! Therapeutic for stress relief too! (I also saw Jamie Oliver mention it on his show - who did it first?!)

Tori - I'm totally with you on the fennel obsession. Plain old fennel and rocket salad with balsamic for lazy days.

  6. That looks sensational! If you are a fennel fan, there is another salad with grilled seafood in the same Ottolenghi cookbook that we have tried a few times. It is delicious, I love that cookbook.

  7. Happy snaps - I love it! I own Plenty (which is my most used cookbook) but still haven't gotten around to buying the first Ottolenghi - thanks for the reminder!

  8. The London Foodie - Ooh, I dont' remember that other one! I LOVE fennel. I'll look for it - thanks.

Hanna - I really recommend it. Which reminds me that I still need to buy Plenty.

  9. Beautiful post! after dining at Nopi all I do is add pomegranates to everything! its such a fresh and wonderful alternative to nuts/shavings etc. =)
