Greek feasting - Greedy Diva Happy Snaps #2

Any truly greedy person appreciates the sight of oodles of plates spread out on the table before them. One can convince oneself that one is merely pecking, when in fact one is consuming quantities that would put a sumo wrestler to shame.

This is just layer number 1 of the first course of starters that you get at the simple Greek taverna, Vrisaki. Yes, another layer of plates is piled on top. And that's before you move on to the fish and meat courses. It's about quantity rather than quality, and all served up by a bevvy of heavily moustached waiters with leather vests, which adds to the charm.

Another thing that makes me happy is baklava. Vrisaki's is good. Really good. But not nearly as good as TPG's Mum's or TPG's Yia Yia's. I know what side my bread is buttered on. (And it's true).

  1. Now that's what I call a sensible quantity of food!

  2. I agree! Baklava is one of my favourites-something about it especially when its served warm and gooey dripping in honey and topped with cream!
I haven't found a very good mediterranean or middle eastern in London yet (Yalla Yalla is OK) but will def stake this place out! =)

  4. Holy cow - that is a large amount of food. I keep hearing about this place and the sheer quantity of food it serves. Your photo just confirms this. Sounds like it could be a lot of fun to visit.

Sometimes with places like this, the overall experience adds up to something greater than the individual parts (in this case the food) - was that true here?

  5. Hugh - Hear hear!

Campari and Soda - An American in London tried another Lebanese place recently which she thought was better than Yalla Yalla. You might want to look into that also.

Gourmet Chick - Loved it! Was lovely to spend the evening with you and The London Foodie.

The Grubworm - Definitely true. It's a place for good times, lots of drinking and feasting.
